Be Prepared: Now and Year Round!—Part 3
Preparation is the first step one can take. However in the midst of an emergency, it is also important to have the latest information on whatever situation is unfolding. This week the Putnam County Department of Health shares a third tip for emergency preparedness.
Tip Three: Stay informed. Keep your phone and other electronic devices charged, using a charger in your car if necessary. Consider signing up for the local notification system, NY Alert, a free service that provides critical information and emergency alerts and you can customize the type of information you will receive and how you want to get it. Phone, email, text or fax are the options and it will provide instructions and recommendations from emergency personnel in real time. For more info on NY Alert or to sign up, visit: https://alert.ny.gov/
